Kit by Small Wonder Labs - Built by Steve, N9OH
I built a DSW-II 20m QRP radio in Sept 2003. It took only a couple
of nights to build the transceiver and it worked right away. But
it didn't work perfectly! After troubleshooting with Dave at Small
Wonder Labs via email we determined that a transistor was bad. A
few days later the replacement part showed up in the mail and now
the radio is working great!

The proverbial "bag of parts" ...

I start work on the main board. Notice the "helping hands" holding the
board up -- this came in very handy. This was only $5 from Ocean State Elect.

More progress... First xtal installed. Most surface mount components
installed now too.

Now all the xtals and some of the rear panel jacks are installed...

Some IC sockets and more parts...

And more....

And more.... (flash wiped out most of the picture... crappy light)

Even more parts.... this is where i started winding the toroids also!

Its getting close now....

That's it! Main board done...

And now we get ready to build the daughter-board (front-panel).

That was quick. Not many parts here...

A close-up (out of focus) of the front-panel...

Now we start the final assembly. Note the 10-pin cable connecting
the daughter-board with the main board.

Its done! It was easy to build and you can probally handle it. :) |
